Corydalis solida 'Beth Evans'

I'm wondering if this is like the Corydalis lutea that blooms in the shade all summer long? If so, I want some.

Such a 'soft' plant in every way. I must keep an eye out for new Corydalis. They are so pretty and so early!

Thanks - I love it too. Valerie, it's the same family as C. lutea, but it grows from corms, and it's summer dormant. It does prefer some shade though.

Have you planted it out yet, job to tell from the pic,mine increase much better in the open ground only problem I find they need a bright label other wise I may chop them in half.

I think this is the same as ours, noticed it today but it is only about three ins high at the moment, such a pretty little thing, we thought we had lost it, being as we had re-done the flower border last autumn.

Yes, Bjs - Beth is in the flowerbed, but George is still in the greenhouse - however, I think I'm going to plant him out with labels, as Dd says. Beth has her own label!

That's so lovely! Do you ever read "Gardens Illustrated" Spritz? There is an unusual Corydalis (quantmeyeriana 'Chocolate Stars') recommended by their current nurseryman, John Hoyland. As he runs our local nursery, I think I should buy one for the first time . . . just right for my woodland area. :)

No Sheila - but it does sound lovely!

Sticki - it's only about 6" tall. I think you might have to wait until the autumn and buy them as corms, unless you have a rare plant fair near you soon. They tend to have them. I've never seen any at GCs.

Think I had one of these but in white at the other garden where we used to live. It was brittle and snapped easily.

Could that have been C. ochroleuca? That has roots and seeds around a bit.

Think so Spritz. It's so lovely that the flowers are beginning to come out again after such a severe winter, and that photos are beginning to be shown on GOY again for this season.
