March in the garden

Pretty in pink! Looks good with the grey stones. I see some in my garden need dividing after they've flowered!

lulu there is a difference these would rot in the open garden there ancesters would be growing on the side of a mountain where water would roll off them

How come mine don't rot? Or revert as I was told they would? I have some amazing coloures and they are all doing well, except that I most certainly need to divide them!

lulu what have i done,There is know way i can explain beyond the very basics on GOY .All Primroses,Primulas & Auricles grow wild on all the continents of the world except Australasia,they have developed to suit there environment over millions of years,some on barren dry ground and are usually very small, others live in wet boggy ground and are much larger,up to 3ft in height,
and many intermediate sizes,to flourish they need the conditions they were used to in the wild.your plants derive from our wild primrose so it figures if they grow in the hedge rows around you they will grow in your garden.There are as many as 500 known species in the wild and several thousand hybrids bred from them ,one of which is in the picture above,In some cases it is possible to breed useing two different species within the Primula family and thats how a lot of the hybrids occur.
I am stopping now i hope that gives a little insight into what is quite a complex plant.

Wow ! I had never seen so much blooms in a single plant.I too have primulas but never have such a grand bloom.What should be the problem Bjs?

What sort of primulas grow in your garden,i find it difficult answer,as i said to lulu there are so many different ones .The ones i grow would not survive above 30c so can not imagain yours are the same as mine.
Do you have a photo to post even without flowers might give me an idea what you have,and we could go from there.
