Thanks Milky. It's not as dark as I was hoping, but the "Queen Of the Night" seems a little washed out this year too....

Delonix - have I just scored a point!!!!
18 Apr, 2011
several points up on me meanie
18 Apr, 2011
Don't you believe it Sticki - I think that I have the grand total of two points!!
18 Apr, 2011
and if i have zero you are several up on me!!!
18 Apr, 2011
Let's not exaggerate! Two - that's it!
18 Apr, 2011
i was thinking how i could score some points:
1 for weeds ~ too many of them
2 for not planning the garden so things are in the wrong place
3 for managing to lose a prize fuchsia that i brought in all winter
4 ~ and this one is definitely worth a point ~ my himalayan poppy that has just come out ~ but i cant put the photo on till ive got it right!! taken about 20 so far and still not right!!
i think the first 3 points may be negative!! therefore i have minus 3 plus 1 = -2
you win!!

Your Himalayan poppy is in bloom? Mine is just four puny leaves......
18 Apr, 2011
i have one open and one bud waiting to come out.
they are spectacular but at the same time they are odd ~ i think they want mountains and snow as a backdrop!??
18 Apr, 2011
I think that I'm giving up on them.......
18 Apr, 2011
ive planted lots of seeds that karensusan on here sent me ~ if they work you can have some of mine.
18 Apr, 2011
ive put the picture on.

Meanie:
Yes, you sure have scored a point! lol! :>)
I gave up on growing tulips here long ago!
18 Apr, 2011
At least I can artificially provide what my "exotics" need. I guess that it's harder to provide cool conditions in SoCal!

Meanie:
Tulips bulbs are available at nurseries pre-chilled. However, I've had such horrible luck over the years growing them (they grow deformed)...I've just given up!!!
There's a man in Orange County (south of Los Angeles and North of San Diego) who has a famous tulip garden (he draws attention from all around SoCal). He has a refrigerator dedicated to his tulip bulbs...and has been growing tulips for more than 30 years.
This is a really incredible article about the man and his tulips!
