Thank you, David... this is exactly what I want...clematis montana is one of the hardier types right? Just gorgeous..gotta have it.

It is very hardy, Lori, and rampant, too, so great for getting quick cover over fences, sheds and up through other trees/shrubs. In our previous garden, we had a pink variety which completely clothed a dead tree. You can prune it to a shape after flkowering, if you want to.
