That's nice, glad you like it. She'd like to be in the garden more often, but with a low fence and urban foxes who've already had three bunnies in the neighbourhood for a midnight feast, she'll have to be under constant supervision, when she is out. I usually take her down when I'm putting in new plants, and keep an eye on her. She loves becoming invisible behind the large rhubarb leaves.

Aaah she's a cutie, know what you mean about foxes we have a pair of regular visitors, which we'd never seen before until our poor bunny became a victim, he was in a run covered in chicken wire and they ripped the netting from the top to get to him:-(, so wouldn't risk another bunny here, funny how the flippin wild ones escape though they're gradually eating their way through my garden grrr, saying that I'd never hurt them we do have quite a cute one at the moment with a little white tuft on top of his head like a gremlin,lol.

So sorry to hear about your poor bunny. The ones that fell victim to a pair of foxes in my neighbourhood were just fenced in and weren't locked in at night. I tried to speak to the neighbours but they didn't want to know. The fox took one of three rabbits the first night, but as they didn't look after them very well, they probably didn't even notice one was gone. So it and another one came back the following night and took the other two. If they hadn't been fenced in they could have probably outrun the fox or hid, but this way they didn't get a chance. We don't have a problem with wild rabbits here, but apparently they used to be a pain at my allotment site. Not currently, though, thank goodness. I'm sure they would gladly indulge in all my brassica seedlings. That's were my love for them would end as well.

We'd never seen the foxes before until the day after our poor rabbit was taken, turned round and one was staring at me through the patio window, cheeky as anything, then we started seeing a pair of them drinking from our pond, last year they had cubs, and what a freaky sound in the middle of the night calling them, I had to warn our new neighbour as he keeps birds in a large shed outside and used to leave it open on warm evenings, he doesn't now, hubby would love some chickens but I wouldn't like to risk it now, we have an allotment too at the bottom of the garden, everything has to be covered with netting if its not rabbits its pigeons!!!!

Jamie Oliver has a fantastic recipe for Rabbit ,It looked very tasty , I must admit I thought it would be a good way to keep our rabbit population under control .....

Got pigeons eyeing up our peas as well in the allotment, but I learned quickly after our first year, and covered them with netting, like yourself. My pet hate are slugs and snails and cats using our garden as toilet. There are four of them in the neighbourhood, and while I'm not a cat hater at all, it's just annoying, when you've just planted out little seedlings or something.
Such a shame you can't have chickens:-(
A couple of our customers keep chickens and lock them in at night. In the River Cottage Cookbook (by Hugh-Fearnly Whittingstall) on page 213 there is a picture of a hen-house employing a ladder system, which the chickens can be trained to use, but which is fox and badger proof. It says that, although foxes usually take their prey after dark, some might be cheeky enough to come for a chicken during daylight hours, but usually they'll only be able to take a solitary one rather than going for wholesale slaughter. Mind you, I'd be quite attached to each one, so I'm not sure this would be of much comfort. But anyway, it may be worth looking at, if you've got access to the book.

Watched some river cottage programs on 4oD and there were some good rabbit recipes too, Amy. Can't believe it! As I was writing this my husband's bunny, just had a little accident after sneaking into the living room. He used to be toilet trained and used his litter tray very regularly, until he couldn't be bothered anymore, for some reason, which is why he was banned from this room!! Where were those recipes again, Amy?;-)
