Pieris 'Forest Flame' 05.11 (Pieris japonica)

In need of some TLC and removal of dead wood, this Pieris lived in two gardens before being transferred to mine last year. Despite living in the same pot for about 40 years it still flowers annually and has deep red new leaves.

I amazed at 40 years! as they tend to be short lived. Sorry but I think this plant is really struggling? It has no real signs of new growth and most of it is bare wood. It needs a bigger pot and ericaceous compost/feed and would benefit from some shade. I find mine ( about 12 years old) is much better out of the suns full glare. Keep it watered when you repot and dont prune until after it flowers next spring, any dead wood needs to be removed though.

We are of the same mind, Drc726.
In my Father's last garden it became lopsided, I think because it was overshadowed by an oak tree. It is partially shaded i my garden by a lime tree. I have been turning the tub each time I mow the lawn.
I moved it into my garden in May last year and have done very little to it apart from watering and weeding. It flowered this Spring so I intend to move it into a bigger tub and remove the dead wood.
I would like to propagate from it if I can (fingers crossed).
