No gardener to take credit for this ...this is a swamp beside the road to Vennachar...about 16 kms. from home.

Count me in..just wish I could paint!

If you want to try, may I suggest that you buy some of the craft acrylics and a small canvas (I think you can buy them at a pound store) (over here it's a dollar store!) It won't cost a fortune ..and do a painting of your favourite iris.
(Just look at the colour, mix it, apply it, move on to the next...) I counsel patience because you may loathe your first few efforts. OR... maybe buy a box of chalk pastels and do your rendition of the Byerly Turk! ..a profile maybe. (I did one of a Morgan). Ever read Sir Winston Churchill's essay on painting as a source of relaxation? (He had a wonderful command of the English language! love to read his English...lol.

Lori:

This is such an incredible sight! There's so many.

Delonix...this is indeed incredible. the only plant in the little pocket swamp is the white waterlily. There wasn't a bit of swamp grass or pickerel weed...just the lovely lilies. In the middle of the swamp is a small island...with a couple of derelict spruce and a live one as well...just a lovely spot to sit an meditate on the beauties of nature. (If you can stand the mosquitoes and deerflies..chewing on you!)

This is wonderful Lori! The Nymphaea odorata doesn't live this far north in Alaska, though we have it as a native as well. You look to have found yourself in beautiful country, I'm enjoying the peruse from the start. :-) What a gift to have a nearly private swamp full of them. Beautiful.
