Not really a good name, but it is a lovely colour, and ambles around, too.

Yes, 'yet' another! lol.

Beautiful.
(Shocking Blue were a Dutch band in the sixties, had a hit with 'Venus' - much better than that 'orrible Bananarama version - yeuk!). :-)

Oh! I wonder if that's where the name came from?

Barbara, I've got one called Geranium pratense 'Purple Haze' - do you sense a 60's music theme going on here? :-)
28 Jul, 2011
Hmmmph! I haven't got that one! Has it got dark leaves? It 'is' interesting, because my book says that one only appeared in 2000. Somebody had to name them, I suppose... and could have been around in the 60s. :-)))

Yes Barbara, the leaves are dark when they emerge in Spring and then change to a dark green with a purplish edge as they age. My plant hasn't flowered yet so I can't describe their colour.
I'm thinking of moving it to a shadier position to see if it keeps the dark leaf colouring longer.

I've just checked in my books - and they all say that the pratenses prefer a sunny position - so beware! I shall break this to you gently - if it's a seedling from another plant, the flowers could be any colour - magenta, blue or mauve. Well - at least it'll be a surprise!
29 Jul, 2011
Don't know if I like surprises like that . . lol! I'll let you know what colour appears. Thank you for the positioning info Barbara, I may leave it where it is and if I get any seedlings I'll try them in different places.
29 Jul, 2011
Yes, do. Apparently, if seedlings start off with green leaves, they'll be 'duds' according to the 'experts'. My thought on the subject was - they'd fit in somewhere! ;-)

Lol . . . I agree with you. :-)
