the is Water Plantain, or Broadleafed Arrowhead.
Sagittaria latifolia. Pretty white blossoms.

Thanks Gt.. I love it and was really happy to find it growing along the stream. I have been doing some work in the area and resculpting the banks...going to leave it where it is and mark the spot with a stake so that next spring I can watch for it and move it to the widened area. Also have to look around for some pickerel weed to plant with it and will try to get permission (from whom I don't know) to take some of the white waterlilies from the swamp down the Matawatchan Road.

this is lovely, reminds me of anthurium. Wonderful structure with a bright flower, if not terribly large. Will you be pulling it in to cultivate, or just watching it spread now that it is found. I'm guessing it is growing on the property.
