I do love Hostas...

I`m hoping to expand my collection of hosta next year. Have the perfect place for a hosta extravaganza! Bought a Bressingham blue this year and it doesn`t look very blue...wonder if I bought a mislabeled plant...have a little Blue Boy which has taken to it`s new place and is in blossom at present.

Sounds exciting, I'll look forward to that...I'm going to move some of mine in a few weeks, to a more permanent home, at the front, it benefits from some shade, and hopefully if the Lupins keep on doing well they can be moved into the space left....Maybe, I don't know, but Bressingham Blue probably will develop it's colour better next year when it's a little more mature...

I love your new avatar, Crissue. gorgeous colour. My Dahlias are just budding...been very slow to develop...had a bug problem and I think the bed is a little too dry for them...but we've had rain and they are picking up again..the roots of the ones in this bed are from a goY friend in Wales.

Thanks Lori....I'm in love with this Dahlia at the mo...I've put a pic up, there's a Red and Orange growing together, and they really stand out and show off....
Good to hear your Dahlias are picking up...do you have a favourite type....Our temps have cooled down a bit, thank goodness...we've had rain in the night for two nights running which is good, I wake up to nice fresh smelling air...
Yes the GOYers are very good at sharing plants & seeds etc....a real little club :))))

In my last garden I had a mauve dinnerplate dahlia...it was stunning! There is a mallow that popped up in my little bed...must do some research to find out what it is...as it is very tall and floriferous... wonderful colour and it obviously seeds itself. Now that I have my photos loaded on my new computer I can start putting up pics again and I think it will be the first. The dp dahlia that I spoke about died suddenly at the end of the season...when I dug up the root it was black and mushy....guess it was just not meant to live more than a season. I find that buying roots and corms that they can sometimes do that. Years ago I was able to keep bulbs, rhizomes and corms easily,in paper bags in the basement... I have an area where I am thinking of digging a root cellar. It's another "maybe" to add to my never ending list...but that way I can have my dahlias, cannas and callas, glads and acidantheras without all the worry of them drying out in the basement.
