I have no way to know, Plantaholic! The last owners of the house acquired it in the early '60s and he was a keen gardener, so I'm supposing that he planted it...
...the house has been here a lot longer, tho'.....

I really, really like this photo Karen. I can see what you mean about it looking good in Winter too - I can just imagine it in a sea mist or fog - wonderful! :-))

Karen I've just Googlemapped Charente ('cos I didn't know where it was in relation to the sea) and realised that my daughters haven't been too far from you this last week, on holiday in La Rochelle!
