Ground looks sooooooo dry! it will be lovely Mum....you could plant some fragrant annuals too...night scented stock and dwarf sweet peas for example, just for the summer evenings...next year of course!

Yes very dry and that is usually the wettest part of the garden it is at the lowest edge of the garden, amazing how little rain we have had.

Do you think the Pilgrim would look good with it? I think it might....not much pong though is there...perhaps not.

How could I have missed it? Wollerton Old Hall....highly fragrant new DA rose with really lovely cream flowers and splashes of red on the bud. Perfect!

Have got The Pilgrim (climber) up in the playpen area. No not a lot of scent to it. Trying to get ones I have not got already, but you would not have known that lol. Not seen Wollerton Old Hall will look on line next. thank you

I love Wollerton Old Hall it is beautiful, I also like Alba Semi Plena might have to dig another patch of grass out to get that one in. lol. Think I will go with Wollerton Old Hall it is so so pretty and perfumed. Got to be the right one for that spot.

You will know from this that my DA catalogue arrived at last! :)) I now have 'wish list' and am thinking I might grow them in pots in case we move on in a few years......I am after Jude the Obscure, Lady of Shalott and Jude the Obscure. I have three big pots with Dahlias in ......a ha! :))

2 Aug, 2011

Love those two, they are very pretty. Jude the Obscure is very much like Pat Austin, well I think it is. In fact I looked at your picture of Pat Austin and thought that mine was no where near as dark as yours, wonder if that had the wrong label on it! Lady of Shalott is fabulous, I have made my list for the border at long last. ££££££££ ouch the pension is going to take a big hit. Think that will be it for a while now. No more plants I even downsized the wish list just to get it under £100. Dare not tell Paul how much it is going to cost. lol. He thinks roses are outrageously priced as it is. But! But! But! - I am going to make my own trellis to trail some climbers through, so that is going to keep the price down for the garden buying. Ooops forgot he had to buy the wood to make that up. Best keep stumm eh!!!

lol!...I KNOW!! soooooo expensive! £15 for a rose! Oh well.....(sigh) ;) Just back from TKMax....nothing..just a lot of rubbish today. :( waste of time, petrol and effort...I hate shopping! :S

2 Aug, 2011

TKMax is like that isn't it sometimes full of good stuff and next time it is rubbish. not to worry you will find something eventually for that seat. Weather so horribly hot down here, waiting for rain again, forecast today/tomorrow, we are in desperate need. Too hot to work, and my head hurts from the heat. Tried sitting indoors and just being on the computer yesterday but the damn computer was playing up all day, made my lists for roses and plants etc. but it was so so slow I just shut it down in the end. cooler at the moment but sun not up above wood yet. tried every seat in the garden to get out of it yesterday hope it soon rains. I know I am sad but it will clear the air.

Sounds very uncomfortable. We were forecast sunshine today, and hopefully we will get some eventually but now...FOG :(

Had lots of rain and thunderstorms over since tea time, got some clearing up done today in garden, trimming and lopping down overgrown bits and pieces. Very warm still, windows and doors all open in house it was steaming when it rained earlier. Hope you soon get some sunshine.

We did! We got a full 7 hours worth. Did the same as you....pruning, dead-heading, clearing out overgrown stuff, moving stuff. Not too hot, but it really felt warm after all the cold we've had! I looked at the weather website today (local one) and it showed the temps during july were max. 14-17 degrees....ah well, that's scotland for you!

Hi Barbara and everyone, Going to look good Barbara when all planted, and home made trellis looks good, OH use Willow for the last one, and attached it to two Fence Pole Posts sunk into the ground...I haven't got a favourite Rose at the moment, you'll have a much better idea than me...I do like Port Sunlight, rich perfume and Apricot colour...its one of my ordered roses for November..Been planting up young plants, and potting on Lupins that i've grown in little bio peat pots, so they just pop into a bigger pots without disturbing the young plants....Have spilt one of my Phlox, potted both and stood in the border...for now...All my Delphis have been cleaned up and moved to the centre border, and they're going great guns...and finally the Bronze Pot has now been planted up with Heuchera 'Chocolate'....It's big enough to almost fill it too...That's my plant news for now, waiting for the battery to charge on my Camera, then will post a couple of pics....x
