I like this, what sort of soil are they in?

They are in a raised bed...with builders rubble at the bottom and a mix of the original topsoil, with what they call here 'plantation compost' and (last year) sheep manure...
...I'm quite lucky as the people who had the house for years before me really worked on the soil... :))
