Thanks for the lovely comments everyone, Drc it spends the summer outside in the shade and the winter under the bench in the greenhouse. This flower is on a young plant when the main plant flowers will post some more pics. :-))

Sticky, no its a type of Bromeliad, it has 5 or 6 buds on at the moment as soon as they flower I will post a pic of the whole plant.

i shall look forward to that ~ its a lovely flower, it just has a similar structure, i thought, to the longer types of fuchsia ~ sorry I cant remember their name ~ begins with a d!!
