I think this is a cross between Malva and Alcea (Hollyhock). I got a few because I lost most of the hollyhocks in this bed last winter, and they used to suffer from rust. These plants are meant to be quite rust-resistant, "said she hopefully". However, they haven't got to the height of Hollyhocks. :-(

Like this very much, I have yet to get a white bloom from my hollyhocks, they are all shades of pink.
