Thats beautiful Lulu!

Thank you girls! It used to be just white grout and I thought it needed a little lift. I think it's kind of Klimpt like!!
A friend made an interesting comment about my mosaics last night, he said they were all very feminin. Nowt wrong with that but if I am to have another exhibition, maybe at Chelenham Thomas Pink day? I might work on a few more man orientated ones. I noted that only women bought my mosaics last time!
Right....gotta go shop then clean then visitors.
Will have to catch up with GoY tomorrow on everyones pics and blogs for the last week....eeks!

6 Aug, 2011

Hmmm??!!
By the way there is a better pic of this mosaic, catching the light better!!

6 Aug, 2011

oh ok, i will have a look - maybe a shaving mirror for mr t then?? with mosaics round the edge??

6 Aug, 2011

finnily enough, never mosaiced a mirror, maybe because there are rather alot of them!!!

6 Aug, 2011

Disregard the feminine label. The problem I think is that your work is so incredibly beautiful and the men I know would be uncomfortable stating this. Unless of course it resembled a female form :)

6 Aug, 2011

Like me. always forget just one thing.

6 Aug, 2011

You forgot to tell me before I went Stevie!!
Thx for your comment Lil, I did do a bronzed female nude mosaic once!! I did think I may make a few mosaics that would appeal to some men, so if I do do the exhibition again I might sell more!! But intil I find my glass nippers.........can't make any! Bet I did something really silly with them, will probably find them in the garden!!

6 Aug, 2011

Where are my Nippers, honestly, ittsa pain!
One thing I did buy and never will again.....american cheesecake, have eaten a slice and wish I hadn't. Note to self, want cheesecake, make it myself!!

6 Aug, 2011

Deep joy! Found my nippers, glass nippers that is and they were in the garden....goodness knows why! I was looking for a pot to plant up some chamomile and there they were. Wouldn't have found them in a million years for looking!!

I think Lil is right Lulu. You don't need to change anything about your work. This one is particularly lovely..love the colours in the grouting! When you think about the 'art' that men 'tend' to buy for their bachelor pads....pics of bikes, buildings and babes....leave them to it!! :))

6 Aug, 2011

oh ok!! LoL!
thanks for all your comments xx

Lulu
Think motor bikes for you know who.golf clubs,Large Carp, footballers and of course things relating to horse racing ,for me a female form that shows curves but not nude, alpine flowers would also appeal (but not to most men)

Motor bike could be interesting!!

Hmmm interesting question Lulu, to be honest I am not sure. I was going to suggest a bit of erotica too! hehe Men tend to keep thier real desires to themselves eh ; )
I think men quite like organised or mechanical things so for a garden environment maybe old farm tools, ploughs or a tractor etc depends what can resonably be rendered in a mosaic. Not to discount the artistic side, maybe more abstracts or a picasso type approach (easy to use up the old leftovers ; )
Personally I think I would like something of a conceptual fine art nature but thats me thinking as the artist. Maybe just layers of differing blues.
I think you should avoid anything stereotypically 'blokey' (football, booze) as personally i feel thats a bit patronising and can only really remind men just how crap thier lives are.
But a really good Motorbike or scooter would surely sell. Lots of classics to choose from and in a way the more generalistic or non descript it was the more appealling.
Maybe something notional of those hobbies, like old garage signs 'Shell' or 'Dunlop' but done in a mosaic would be something different (again lots of old logos to choose from). Or more generally we see those old notional signs and signifiers of old now becoming a postmodern pastiche in themselves EG 'Keep Calm Carry On' now if you had that on your wall in a mosaic you would have the 'no one else had got one of these' factor, very sellable!
Anyway I wouldnt worry too much as I dont feel your work is 'overly' feminine, there are quite a few of yours that I quite like so I wouldnt be put of buying any of them : )

Thanks for all your thought and imput on that question Stevie. Abstract......good, layering.........great.
Got a collection of now unusable screwdrivers and going to mosaic them for the studs maintenance bloke who helps me out when he can!

What about one with cogs, washers, nuts and bolts Lulu? Having said that I'm sure you would make them look beautiful too :o))
