this flew right past me and landed on my bamboo, i've no idea what type it is so if anyone knows please let me know :-))

It looks like a 'Nursery Web Spider'...I had one in my garden and Muddy named it for me...these are friendly creatures...:>)

thanks for your suggestions, it was quite large maybe 2-3 inches long, and plain brown no markings anywhere on it, definitely a beetle...

That's a HUGE beetle, more at home in the tropics!

that's what i thought when it flew past me Paul, but when i looked closer it was this one, went for a closer pic but it flew off..

Wonder if its a cockchafers, Melolontha, I had some thing simular to this on my fence but it was a mole cricket as it was making a clicking sound other than the cockchafer, a mole beetle.
