Heliconia pendula (Heliconia pendula)

It's hard to think of another plant that has such stunning flower bracts - they make the flowers (which are just emerging on this one) seem disappointing!
Photo taken today at Oxfords botanic gardens where I went to meet up with Tetrarch.

This plant looks more like Heliconia rostrata...typically, H. pendula has much longer flower spikes.
