ah, so that's what they're supposed to look like! mine don't. I had them in troughs on the ground, because I had to, but thought they might be a bit crowded and spead them out a bit, hope they like it better.
*s* I'll have to show them this picture to give them a hint. that's a really impressive display,

Our garden is 100 years old so the old chimney pot is nice on this landing of our steps. I think my father found it in a skip years ago. I change the flower arrangement each year, but the petunias always look good.
I find if they are on the ground you don't see the flowers quite as well, but I do put them in tubs Fran. Glad you all like it. August is always a bit of a challenge in my Scottish garden.......rain!! My husband is frightened to go into Morrisons with me as I always come out with an armful of plants to create a bit of colour in my main flower bed. As Monty Don says.....all the sun loving plants come out in August. I'll give up in September!!!!

thanks, Linda. I've got them about thigh-high at the moment; the troughs aren't very deep so they look leggy, and spreading them out makes them look a bit lonely; but hope they spread themselves to fill the space.
*s* you can always tell when it's summer, the rain is a bit warmer!

Lovely classy looking pot Linda and the petunias decorate it very prettily.

The pot and the petunias look grand especially surrounded by those ferns.

Oh I love this! I wish I could find a lovely old chimney like this, but hardly ever see them in New Zealand.

Thanks Dwyllis. There was a time when people were not interested in chimney pots, but they are expensive to buy here now. You can get them but maybe not as decorative as this one.
