You can smell the Melon in the net as soon as you get near it...so will be ready very soon...

The one on the right will be next...
Top right...after that, will be netting today...
Top left the Twins...wouldn't normally leave both but they are doing so well, I thought I'd leave them for now...

Send one over Sue, I love melons I would eat them every day, I had to throw all my plants away as they weren't doing anything not a flower to be seen just foliage and it would be to late in the season now, what make are yours and did you grow them from seeds ??

Hi Stripes...Wish that I could...The scent of that melon in the net is wafting right in through the open door...can't wait...
We always grow Charantais Melons...I buy the plants from the garden Centre...I only bought two...you normally allow 4 Melons to the vine, but on this one I've got 5, we ate one...and one of the twin Melons may not make it...Do you think it was down to the Weather, I plant mine in full sun...Some people start them off under cloches, then open them up when the weather is right...
Next year I'm going to buy 4 Plants...that should give a yield of 16 Melons...and I believe Charantais plants or seeds are available in UK....

Hi Sheila, it was one of the main reasons for moving to this region, it's Melon Country...so the weather is mainly reliable...and then I asked how to do it...and grew them in the borders at our other house, we had a lot more space then...and we've had two South Facing Gardens since we've been living here, and they get hot...They are started out in the fields from seed, with plastic sheeting over the top, and sealed down, then when the young plants start to grow and the frosts have passed, they slit the tops, and away they go...back breaking work, cutting melon...by the thousands lol...
