Amazing Karen....aren't elephants beautiful creatures too! Very intellegent animals. Makes you wonder why human beings can be so cruel!!!!
BTW Lil....I have a picture of an elephant snorkelling in a bikini.....oops oh no it's me!! lol!

Hi everyone!
Thank you Michaella, I think that they are the most magnificent creatures...
These ones are completely wild, Sticki...you have to be quite still and quiet when in among them...they don't see well, but their sense of smell and hearing is highly acute...and if you tried to touch any of them it would be very, very dangerous...they are incredibly protective of their young.
When you spend a few days watching their social groups and their activities, you realise how much like people they are...
There are no 'big tuskers', there Scottish...since they were down to about 20,000 thirty years ago, none of them are old enough, yet. But, they got the army involved and the poaching has all but stopped now, and the people are very proud of their elephants!!
They don't need bikinis though - no mixed bathing! lol!

Yes, Pixi - getting the army involved was a good move...It gives the army something to do (always a good idea!) and really helps the elephants!
They're working on the rhinos, now...
