that looks lovely! would like to be walking down there, sipping some coffee maybe in a cafe??

12 Sep, 2011

Yes...it's still quite warm...but not sunny!

Had coffee in the little bar, just out of shot, Sticki - no croissants today, though!

12 Sep, 2011

oh :-(
it just looks lovely!!
i had croissant yesterday ~ you wont believe this but i got them from the supermarket frozen and then baked them ~ they were fantastic ~ so puffy, golden, flaky outside ~ ooh scrummy! i wouldnt have believed it myself if someone hadnt told me how good they are!!

I love 'em, Sticki! Spoiled for choice here, five boulangeries...but none in the bar!!

Sometimes I buy them the evening before and then heat them up in the morning...that works too! :)

12 Sep, 2011

when my son was at university he used to get them very early in the morning ~ on his way home ~ from a night out!!

5 boulangeries ~ that is nearly worth moving to france for!!

12 Sep, 2011

Yep! There are only two streets - five boulangeries, three butchers, three charcuteries, five hairdressers, five bar/brasseries and a nice little garden shop! I love it here...

12 Sep, 2011

Sounds fantastic!

12 Sep, 2011

they certainly get their shopping priorities right dont they!!

It's just a quiet little town, Lil...one of the smallest 'villes' in France...very rural and once you are regarded as a local, it's a great place to live! :))

12 Sep, 2011

how long does it take to be regarded as a local?

12 Sep, 2011

Sounds fantastic Karen!

12 Sep, 2011

presumably it helps if you speak french!!!!?

12 Sep, 2011

Just going...!!

Takes about five years (if you don't frequent the bars of an evening!) to become a local...about the same time that it takes to understand a French joke!!!!

12 Sep, 2011

Shorts!!!!!!

12 Sep, 2011

Lol!! We're not giving in easily, Karen!

12 Sep, 2011

:)) Beautiful French town/village Karen....sigh! btw..who will look after your place over the winter..do you need a house-sitter? ;)

12 Sep, 2011

I've already arranged my flight Karen, nice try though :):)

12 Sep, 2011

Sorry, girls....I've already got Camil or Camille (don't know how to spell it!) !!! Anyway, he's a man...

12 Sep, 2011

That works for me just fine..... :):)

12 Sep, 2011

LOL!!!...He's a 'typical' Frenchman, Lil....you absolutely sure??? ! :)

12 Sep, 2011

If it would move me to France, yep pretty sure. Besides, the way 'typical frenchmen' are portrayed here is as verrrry sexxxxxy!!! Tres bin!!

12 Sep, 2011

Aye, well! They do always like to think of themselves that way!!! Even if they're on crutches!!!!
Actually, he's not..... :)

12 Sep, 2011

that looks good K, so did you keep your hands in your pockets or did you buy something... :-))

12 Sep, 2011

Typical Frenchman? What you mean like Strauss Khan?

12 Sep, 2011

Surreylad, it's your fault! Look at the next photo! Only joking!...Honeysuckle!

KS...they are ALL like that in their own small way...!!

12 Sep, 2011

Yeah..Lil...I think you'd better take your own Man with you mate. There are some good ones up here in Scotland you know...they make em well up here...funny, kind, intelligent, honest...and occasionally quite good looking!

12 Sep, 2011

Ah! Not like here, then...slippery, slimy, but, 'a way with the words!'...lol! Actually, it's not the words...it's just the way they say them!!
I'm not fooled, though!!

12 Sep, 2011

Erm no...Scots are not known for their smooth talk! You're lucky to get 2 words out of them! lol

12 Sep, 2011

Ah! KS...two weeks here...you'd realise that under every beret (when I say under, I mean under 5'!) there beats the heart of a French Luvver!! What more can I say! :))

12 Sep, 2011

oOH lala! Mais tous ressemblent-ils à Sacha Distel ?
Est-ce qu'il est même toujours vivant ? J'ai eu l'habitude d'avoir bien envie de lui gâté lol

12 Sep, 2011

How they take pride in their streets so clean not like here any more, still as clean when I went in the 80s there I see, looks an enjoyable day.

12 Sep, 2011

Oo, la la la la la la! Pixi! I haven't got a clue what half of that says! But, there's definitely a shortage of Sacha around here!! ;))))

Sixpence, you are right. There is never any litter, even out on the roadsides...It might be to do, also, with a complete lack of things like 'fast food' outlets...
They've also stopped supplying plastic carrier bags in most shops and bread and the like is sold unwrapped.

13 Sep, 2011

Well since last night I forgot too! lolol

13 Sep, 2011

They are right to ban such things too, also bread should never be wrapped in any thing except tissue paper like years ago.

13 Sep, 2011

Oh alright ladies, you've convinced me to stick with my current :)

13 Sep, 2011

lol :)

13 Sep, 2011

Think that's a good choice, Lil ;)

Sixpence, you are absolutely right! At the market they sell baskets and shopping trolleys - everyone uses them-there's no stigma here.
In fact, they're considered quite chic!
