This is the butterfly that the prior caterpillar becomes. They are big and plentiful here, a delight all summer long. Fluttering through these bidens in the spring.

Thank you all. It was so agreeable. Just flitting flower to flower as I followed about a foot behind with the camera, so I got many shots to choose from. There were so many this year through the spring, but by July I was only seeing a few. I got a shot of them massed along the stream bank breeding. I'll get that posted once I clean up the shot a little.

Wonderful!
Congratulations for the shot GT.
I'd like to take pics of buterflies here during autumn when the blue ones fly around, but they are very shy and fly away when you get close.

I had more luck this year than ever. I think they are rewarding me for all the flowers, and such a peaceful place for them. I found mounds of them at the stream, but I want to clean that pic up a little before posting. I hope you catch the blue one soon. They are all shy things in the ends aren't they.

It is a childhood thing for me chasing butterflies, never could understand why people catch them ... their life is so short

I love chasing them for the shot. But I could never catch. Now that I know the cycle of these majestic things, especially these big long range fliers. I loved to see them increasing as they feasted on my garden throughout spring.
