Most of our roads are lined with Jacaranda and many species of palms.

OMGosh .... I love Jacarandas. They are just about my most favourite tree & they grow everywhere in Napier. I live a 3 hour drive away from there now, & no Jacarandas at all in this area, as not as hot. I always thought Jacarandas only grew in NZ .... good to know that other places share this beautiful tree ... but it can get awfully messy when the flowers flutter downwards lol I can remember walking across carpets of blue on my way to school as a small child.

Jacaranda trees are very widely grown throughout California. There's millions of trees here in San Diego County. All of San Diego becomes blue/purple when they bloom in spring.
Jacaranda mimosifolia is native to s. Brazil and northern Argentina.

Palmate:
Thanks! :>)
The two tall palms are the extremely common Washingtonia robusta (Mexican Fan Palm). This palm pops up everywhere (even in concrete and asphalt) in most of California.

Reminds me of my hometown in Napier, New Zealand. Different palms, but not a lot different. We have main roads lined either side with them.
