Driving home today I noticed a lot of colorful maple and sassafras trees so I stopped and took a few pictures. This is only a mile or two from my house but there's a lot more color here.

The reds are spectacular around here this season, there are a number of wetlands and bogs around that the red maples like. The sassafras trees are just beginning to turn and the yellow-orange-red combination on those are amazing.

I shall look forward to more photos - please!
Didn't realise the maples liked bogs.

Really just the red maples but I've seen silver maples growing in damper areas like that before too. I am going to be driving through the northeast part of the US at the end of next week and the fall color is supposed to be spectacular over there.

Is that the bit on all the tourist holidays? It looks spectacular - please take some pictures! I would love to see them if you have time.

I am planning on taking dozens of pictures and will definitely post them when I get back. A lot of people drive through areas of New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut just to see the fall colors and I will be going through all three states. Should get some very nice pictures and will be getting a better camera before I go too.

The last couple of cameras I had didn't last, I always seem to have trouble with the lens not wanting to open or close. I take a lot of pictures so I thought it was about time to get a nicer camera!

What will you get? I take loads of pictures but I like the camera to be small enough to take everywhere - I have a canon powershot 10, regarded as the spare camera for a pro!! It is not an SLR but has many features of that. I have had to have it repaired once after a walk on a windy beach! Zoom lens wouldn't return! I think it got sand in??

I'm not exactly sure, my dad let me borrow his camera when I went up near the great lakes a couple months ago and it took great pictures (even night shots). I want one that takes good close-up pictures and low-light pictures. I see the northern lights a few times a year and need a good camera to get pictures of them. I like the sounds of your camera, I may have to look into one of those!

The northern lights? How fantastic! You certainly should have a good camera!

They are just beginning to colour here, not many reds though.
