This has grown well although last winter was so cold. It survived the wind better than some allegedly hardier plants.

I've had one before, but wasn't able to give this one a very sheltered site - my only problem is that it's grown faster/bigger than I expected!

Yours looks lovely against the foliage background ..
How tall is your Abelia, and the conifer behind ?
Do you trim those ?

The conifer is actually below! It's a very small, low one. No trimming, it's very slow growing. The abelia is a different matter. I'm trying to keep it low - not more than about 3ft. It would like to be much bigger, I think but seems to thrive (and flower low) on my heavy pruning!

Thanks... Useful info. I'll be aware that my Abelia will need pruning. At the moment, mine is quite a young shrub.
