Sparrowhawk

What a good shot. We've seen one hanging around where we live and the other day, there were lots of feathers all over the place, just like in your photo. Must have got a sparrow.

Fantastic photo Janey, you did well to get a photo of it. Last week one took a Blue Tit off the feeder in my garden...I couldn`t believe my eyes, it happened so quickly. I felt sad for the poor little bird but it was amazing to see it happen right under my nose!

Beautiful picture Janey, I wonder how many sparrows they eat a day. I have not seen a sparrow in these parts for over 10 years now but did see a sparrow hawk take a blackbird the other day. Lots of wood pigeon feathers lately but have not seen anything big enough to take one.

Poor blue tit Lab, I don,t like the thought of those being pinched! A truly beautiful bird though.
I didn't realise they went for the larger birds Tommy, hopefully that would have lasted him a couple of days!

Yes, "our" sparrowhawk has definitely taken a few pigeons - they're just not quick enough!
