Are they San Marzanos? Everyone here grows them. Lovely! Or Rio Grande? It's hard to see the size from this. Well done, you!

thanks Pp, they are beauties, Gattina there was no name on the seeds when we got them, they average 3/4 inches in length,

I'm intrigued, Yorkshire - no name? Did someone kind donate them? We tried to plant seed collected from our San Marzanos one year because we had enjoyed them so much, and we got a very motley assortment of plants. If they are 3-4" long, they won't be SMs, then.

our daughter bought the seeds for us, she said she paid quite a lot of money for them, My husband has just found the packet Gattina, they are called Roma VF Plum. I will tell what I will do, photograph the seed pkt and put it on for you to see,

I have just put a photo on for you of the seed pkt Gattina

Oh, Thank you, Yorkshire! I haven't come across those before, but I've just had a look on an Italian seedsman's site, and there they are. Perhaps we only have the varieties on sale here as seedlings that the locals favour. I think maybe I should try to get hold of some for next year. I particularly like the bit about their being seedless. :-)

I will email my daughter later today to see if I can find out where she bought them from, she also bought me chilli seeds, yellow strawberry and black sprouts, all in the same pkts,

I've had a further look, and I may be mistaken, but I THINK the "VF" bit means the equivalent of "F1". If you want me to see if I can get you further seed, I might be able to find you some.
