A Mass Of Plants: Kentia Palms, Coffee Tree, Brazilian Red Cloak, Heliconia, Angel's Trumpets (Kentia Palms, Coffee Tree, Brazilian Red Cloak, Heliconia, Angel's Trumpets)

This is in my front yard...all these plants are growing and booming well in the nice San Diego sunshine. There's a big Southern Magnolia and gigantic Jacaranda tree in the background, also. Photo taken Oct. 27, 2011.

If you really saw all the palms and tropical plants under the Norfolk Island Pine and Southern Magnolia...you would really say: "Oh my!!!" I have about 20 species of palms under these trees.

Tommymoo:

That's just under the tree in this small area. I actually have about 50 species of palms growing in my yards.

We're very lucky here in San Diego...we can grow approximately 400 species of palms outdoors (and the list is growing all the time). The San Diego Zoo has a huge collection of palms, more than 300 species represented in their gardens.

Unbeliebable! Very nice front yard indeed! The brugmansia is very tall. The scent must be magnificent in the evening and night!
