Clematis Montana 'Elizabeth'

Beautiful!

I used to have this one all along the back fence..It grew down the other side into the neighbours garden...The old lady who lived there loved it, it even travelled along her clothes line...When she passed away the new neighbours didnt want it so i hard pruned it and it died...I wouldnt mind but their fence AND garden is barren and horrible now....:<(...sorry for the rant Scotsgran...its a beautiful climber...:>)

Very pretty ... that's a sad story, Motti ... we have this partway on our back fence ... so do the neighbours but even they don't know where it actually starts from! ... I am currently training it along the trellis- topped fence between our gardens ... :o)

That is sad Motinot. I agree with you all it is a beauty and the fact that it has a nice perfume makes it very special.

I love this. I planted one a couple of years ago to cover my neighbours horrible fence (I've grown it on a frame so if the fence falls down my plant should be safe!)

Thank you Alex and that is a good idea Gee. I can never make up my mind to a favourite because they are all lovely but the ones with a perfume was new to me. What I do like about the montana is there ease of growing almost anywhere and performing well in every situation. They grow so thickly that even the thrushes have nested amonst the tangled stems.
