A gift from Dad.

My dad gave me this late 2004, a tiny cutting which I put in a basket and placed in the Ivy, with not much hope. He died 2/05 and every year it comes back even better, even though I haven't re-planted/fed it. Clearly he is looking after it like he did my car when I 'let it run on fresh air' :o))) Anyone know what it is ??

Thanks Sticki. It is. I do tell him that he is just showing off every time it makes an appearance. He was a lovely man and we were always joking. Miss him lots but I am sure he is letting me know he is looking over us. :o)))

How clever to put it in the hedge. It looks perfect there and I'm sure he is looking out for you. It is a campanula. I have one that looks similar in my summer flowering rockery its Campanula portenschlagiana. Lovely beach sign.

Thanks Pixi, Paul, Scots. Because the length of the garden is completely covered in the ivy, each year I fill pots or baskets and put them in there for a splash of colour. The Ivy is so strong it holds them well. This is the only one that returns year upon year!! Hence Dad 'showing off' :o) The Beach Sign is one of the signs/pieces we make from driftwood. We also make mirrors, sconces etc.

What a lovely reminder of your Dad. Why not tease a piece out and plant somewhere else in the garden to spread his love around a bit? :-)
Ivy is such a good wildlife habitat :-))

What an excellent idea Muddy. I have been a little worried about going near it incase I lose it, but will give it a go and if it takes that will be just amazing. I talk to dad from time to time so will ask him to help out here :o) Will keep you posted, and thank you. The whole of the garden wall is covered in Ivy and yes it is, there are so many birds in there it is lovely especially in spring when there are babies. :O)
