You devil! ;))))

My favorite tree! Hence, my screen name. :>)
I love when these trees bloom here in summer! During the last 10 years they have been getting very popular here in San Diego.

This photo was taken last weekend, Delonix...and this is very much how they all look right now. I think I will always associate looking up at these big pods, with being in Africa :)

Soon the trees will be cover with flowers and looking gorgeous!
Here's how the D. regia should look soon.

Karenfranceafrica:
I can't wait to see your photos of the D. regia trees in full bloom! :>)

Lol! Pimpernel - azaleas are just as beautiful...just a bit smaller... ;)
There's another similar looking tree which is just starting to bloom with yellow flowers, Delonix - any ideas what it might be?
14 Dec, 2011
There's so, so many! Maybe Delonix regia 'flava' or Peltophorum pterocarpum, africanum, dubium or some species of Cassia (there's many) or possibly a Tipuana tipu or maybe Tabebuia chrysotricha, possibly a Schizolobium parahyba. These are just a few of the many yellow flowering trees which grow here in San Diego. :>)
I have all these yellow flowering trees and more posted on GoY.

Hahah! I'll post them when fully in flower, Delonix! You have so many beautiful photographs - I need a whole day to look at them! :))

Hopefully, the tree is Peltophorum pterocarpum - Yellow Poinciana. It's very spectacular and has very fragrant flowers!
Here's a pics:

Have had a look and I think some of them are...and also Caesalpina something or another...have forgotten already! lol!
15 Dec, 2011
Caesalpinia species are very common here, too. I love the flowers. Some species like: C. pulcherrima, gilliesi and mexicana are shrubs...and then there's the beautiful large trees like: C. ferrea, sappan and peltophoroides.
Here's a few of my pics, of course. lol! :>)
