Hemerocallis Stafford and Echinacea 'Hot Summer'

This little bed sits along side the garage. It's a south-easterly facing patch and, as you can see these sun-loving plants wish they'd been planted in a more southerly facing direction. In the distance is a mature Choisya tenata 'Sundance' that likes the shelter of the brick wall behind it, but suffers a bit on a cold winter's day when the easterly sun heats its frozen leaves up too quickly, causing them to brown. I wait for the new growth to come through in Spring. The brown bits are soon outnumbered.

Lovely pic, and gr8 tip re the Choisya. Have noticed that, where I work (not garden-related), there are Spotted Laurels in the same situation, which always get "browned off" in winter. I think that they might benefit from the same treatment.
