Karenfranceafrica:

This shrub tends to naturalize and become a weed in the tropics. It grows here, also. Melastoma and Tibouchina are very popular shrubs here in San Diego.

I think I'm going to have some of this for ground cover, Delonix. Now that they've cleared the area, there's quite a lot of ground...!

I was speaking with the head gardener today about what sort of plants I would like...but it's all very confusing...

Sometimes, I don't recognise the names of the plants because of the African accents...and sometimes I just don't recognise the names of the plants, especially with the accents!!

They also seem to categorise plants as being, 'sun', 'fully indoor' and 'not fully indoor'...still have to work that out!

That sounds very confusing!

Most likely you'll have to show them photos of the plants you want in your garden.

It is confusing - because none of them are for indoors!! :/

I'm taking photos of everything I see that I like...yesterday I saw a beautiful vine with purple flowers - going back with camera! :)

I can imagine. Although, it must be exciting for you experiencing all those exotic tropical plants!
