We very nearly chose a pale limestone for this path but our house is rendered in a cream colour and we thought it would be too much on the eye. Instead, we chose the darkest limestone we could find so that it would stand out from the house. I'd also seen this colour used in some show gardens and the mix of blue hardscaping next to green foliage was just lovely.

I almost forgot - blue doesn't show dirt quite as much as pale coloured paving. I park my little car on the patio. Hides the dirt a treat and it's strong enough to take a car. I'll include a picture of the patio in a mo.

Interesting how pavings, pebbles etc. look so different after the rain... a good thing to take into consideration with garden design... the change in the colour of stones etc. when wet.
