Great shot. We had a beautiful big full moon last night, & the sky was so clear that we could see the areas where craters etc are on its surface .... so easy to see why the 'man in the moon' came into being.

Better colour, but the price you pay is quality (note the graining).
Look at mine - I have the same graining around the edges.
If you can find the white balance and image optimization (or equivalent) options that'll help clear this up. The maximum zoom you can do nowt about.

well done Sticki. I am always struggling with pics of moon. will write down the settings - but what about the wthite balance Meanie? I am always confused which one to use at night;-(

I think meanie said to set that at auto kasy?

Hello Sticki..I have just found a setting on my camera called "starry sky" it has to be the one to try next time don't you think?

Oooh that definitely sounds worth trying. I tried taking a star the other night but it didn't come out.
Thought about trying to take a photo using binoculars cos we haven't got a telescope.

I just finished cropping one of the failures and it looks like a nice picture now..The moon is completely out of focus but there is a nice black branch and a blue sky.

not the starry sky setting after all sticki...not with out a tripod anyway:( it is a 15 second exposure. It has been cloudy here as well.

Really great photo! i do love moon pictures,i try but my camera isnt up to the job i dont think? still i enjoy taking them.

i couldnt do this till meanie and bampy told me how. can you change any settings on your camera liverbird?
