Thanks Michaella & Hywel .... Pimpernel, the ceiling is 13 feet from the floor ... these old villas were built to keep the occupants cool in the hot summer months .... which means its cold in the winter! Modern homes are just 8 feet from floor to ceiling, so a lot easier when it comes to redecorating, but not half as much fun!

Christmas is over a long time ago, but your decoration is inspiring for my house this Christmas! I live in Portugal in an old house, and it's amazing that the doors and the wooden ceiling are so similar to these of my house!

Portugal is a lovely country, Migra. I visited Lisbon in 1969 as a teenager with my mother, on our way from New Zealand to England. This Xmas I have decided to only put up a few decorations & lights, as I will be working all over the festive period, sadly.
