Buds on my Fuchsia perscandens!

According to Nature - winter is over!!! just listen to those birds singing - just the way they sound at the end of winter, lol

According to my calender it's not!!
Hope for their sake that they're not too busy making babies!

perhaps it thinks its still in NZ ~ its their summer??!!

It's confused then!

its confusing enough for us never mind the plants!

To be honest, it's getting frustrating to me..........

what im most bothered about is i fear there will be some months with nothing out or just dead flowers cos they came out too early and it got cold.

change the words of the nursery rhyme
nature, nature, quite contrary,
how does your garden grow
with buds in in the cold
and flowers so bold

What happened to all the leaves?

Here in the UK Fuchsia are deciduous shrubs, F.perscandens is an unusual Fuchsia in as much as the flowers emerge from the older woody parts of the plant and not from fresh growth.

Will the leaves start growing back soon? I'm guessing the buds will be flowering very soon, right?

No sign of leaf buds, and I reckon that the flower buds will get turned to mush by the frosts..........

Send the plant here...it was 85ºF/29ºC - 94ºF/35ºC today here in inland San Diego. Unbelievable heat for the 1st day of January!!!

It'll be cool, but strangely no frost in sight yet................

That's good news for the flower buds...they may bloom after all. :>)
