So what do you do then? If you don't kill them how do you keep them away from your plants?

Chris - sorry, I've just revisited this picture and only just realised you asked me a question! You must have thought me so rude........ :-) In answer, to be honest (and not to mention a tinsy bit smug) I don't really have a problem with them. They're there, but they do minimal damage. I think it's because I have a good mix of different sorts of well established plants. Some are not very paletable to them, and there are plenty of dead mouldy stuff underneath the plants, which is of course the natural food source of slugs and snails. I think they live off that and leave the plants alone. I also have a healthy population of frogs, thrushes and hedgehogs, which must do their bit! I have many theories regards slugs and snails, when I get a bit of time I intend to write a blog on the subject, but for the mo I just need to collate my thoughts. Watch this space :-)
Sarah.
