Alexandramou:

Yes, the photos can't do it justice. It's breath-taking when viewed in person. I just fell in love with this vine.

I'm so happy I'm going to be getting some cuttings very soon! :>))

Glad you're getting your cutting...then you can post more pics of this so we can enjoy.

Karenfranceafrica:

I found out this vine is native to eastern tropical Africa. I read it can grow 3ft/1m a day...which is pretty amazing!
My GoY friend said it has grown considerably in just a few months. The leaves are beautiful heart-shaped and velvet-like.

Palmate:

Thanks! This GoY member's garden is spectacular! It's the cleanest and most manicured garden I've ever seen...and full of exotic, tropical plants.

Rbtkew:

Anyone who sees this flowering vine definitely wants it. When I originally saw it out of bloom, I wanted one. :>)

Is it that flower which beautiful women from Hawai put around E.Presley´s neck?

Katarina:

No, you're thinking of Plumeria flowers.

Here's some of the many Plumeria trees with flowers growing here in San Diego.

:) Must be beautiful.

Katarina:

Yes, they're beautiful! Here in San Diego Plumeria trees are widely grown. However, in Hawaii, virtually every yard has a large Plumeria tree and they grow even larger there in the tropics.

:) I am not surprised Christopher Columbus thought they landed in paradise :)

16 Jan, 2012

Well, Christopher Columbus landed in the Caribbean. I'm sure he though it was paradise in that hot humid tropical climate.

:) And who did discover Hawai islands?

16 Jan, 2012

Captain Cook. Unless you take in the Polynesians 1,000 years earlier.
I go with the bird life 1 million years ago. Kidding!

I might try that vine.. I do have a place where I would like to see it cover.. a plastic lattice that is u-g-l-y.

It would be interesting if it would grow up in the SF Bay Area. I know it's tender...not sure how tender, though. Also, remember it blooms in winter.

22 Aug, 2016

Only blooms in winter? I really didn't know that.

22 Aug, 2016

Supposedly, it's a winter to early spring bloomer.
