This has to be my favourite name for a plant! Just look at those colours - volcanic ash and red-hot lava!

Hi, Grammazoo! Isn't this the best-named plant you ever saw? No wonder that foliage begonias are now right up there at No.1 on my "favourites" plant list. Marksbegonias will be pleased, lol!

I think I will have to start looking at what is available around here as the rex begonias are really appealing to me - so many interesting varieties! Hmmmm...and where will I put them...oh, well, somewhere!! I need more plant shelves!!!!

Hmmm, and I'd need to buy an old hotel, with sun-room/conservatory, to house my potential/must-have names collection. I hate when I see a begonia in a garden centre labelled simply "Rex". I want to know its real name!

whoever named that sure hit the nail on the head! wow...magma...A begonia hotel...quite a concept, lol. I have just bought a begonia boliviensis "Bonfire"... it is RED. hope I can keep it through the winter. saw it in a flower seed catalogue back in the spring..was tempted..but resisted...walked into WalMart and there they were in hanging pots. Bonanza. lol.

What a stunning red, beautiful plant.
I also hate finding plants labelled as just "Rex" usually i won't buy them if they haven't got the actual name (i suppose they could be an un-named variety, as with the double tuberous type not all are named. not sure on that one).

Wow! I have to find some of these! The red looks shiny and the black quite matte, really nice combination.

That is amazing! I agree, how apt a name is that! What unusual varieties they have there!
