This photo is of the snow on the inside of our balcony. It's not usual for rain or snow to enter so far in as we are on the ground floor with 5 floors above us. The golden Conifers are up against the windows because of all the weeks of strong winds we have had. Normally they are up against the balcony railings.

It may well have been but we were in bed for most of the time it fell! We have to get up at 4.45am on a Saturday as my wife starts work at 6.30 am & we have a half hour walk to get there. I accompany her every day so at night it's all we can do to keep our eyes open after about 9pm.
It started snowing around 6pm here but after a while it stopped. When we crawled into bed about 10pm it was snowing heavily. When I had to get up around 6am the ground was covered in at least 3" of fine, powdery snow!

I did the same with my magnolia , brought it close to the glass door, and away from the balcony railing because the windy storms.

The wind does a lot more damage to trees & plants than snow & ice on their own. My Conifers have been blown over on several occasions. The wind also burns the new tender foliage of plants & browns the foliage of the golden Conifers. Many years I've been angry with what a few hours or a day or two can do to my plants on the balcony!
The 2nd fall of snow, a few days after the one I mentioned above, is now almost gone & the temps are on the rise again.
