These are the largest Bottle palms I've ever seen in San Diego, CA. In the U.S. this palm is only reliably hardy in parts San Diego County, extreme south Florida and Hawaii. It's a very tropical palm native to Round Island, Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Photo taken Feb. 9, 2012.

Palmate:
Thanks! It's been very warm, however, the weather did cool down today (for the first time in ages).

Meanie:
Thanks! Yes, it's a highly ornamental palm and used very widely in warmer subtropical and tropical climates.

They are so dinky.....

Thanks! :>)
I always have to remember the meaning of dinky in the U.K is different than in the U.S. lol!
These trees used to be so much healthier when they used to fertilize and water them, regularly.

Dinky = unimportant, insignificant, (in the US)
Correct?

Meanie:
Dinky = very small or tiny, here in the U.S.

Ah - I went out with a girl from Orange County many years ago and when I said that her "assets" were dinky she went off on one, saying I'd called them the above!
Sorry ladies!

Meanie:
Wow! That's was sure the wrong thing to say...especially to someone from Orange County (O.C. borders San Diego County to the north). Orange County has a reputation of being very ritzy and wealthy!

Her Daddy was VERY wealthy! She was the second great love of my life............

Meanie:
I'm not surprised. Most people who like live in southern Orange County are pretty wealthy. Have you ever been to any cities in the O.C.? Maybe Anaheim where Disneyland is located?
