Exit, pursued by a horse!

Exit, pursued by a horse!

Spinster's Rock, Dartmoor, 28.12.88. I'm using a pic with me in it partly to give the stones scale and partly to show the horse. We’d been there a while when the horse started ambling over; it was obviously used to being fed by visitors. We had nothing, but it didn’t seem to believe us; we started walking away, it followed us, getting closer and closer … we ended up legging it, me trying to avoid mud puddles – I’d had to buy those trainers only the day before, as my hiking boots had split. You can see how gleaming white they were - but not for much longer ...

lol only cheapo trainers - trying to find a shoe shop that was open on December 27th in the villages around Dartmoor involved a longer trek than Star ever had!

but it was a case of "tapdance round the mudslicks" while hearing the "thunder" of hoofbeats getting ever louder and ever closer ...

Wasn't brought up close to horses - well, you didn't tend to get many in the East End then, though there are riding stables etc now.

I got put off getting very close; was going to feed an apple to a horse when I was very young (we were staying near a farm); someone told me that the horse would bite my fingers off. Not "could" - *would*. Tended to keep me distance ever since!
