Japanese Stewartia

The trees are Japanese Stewarta (Stewartia pseudocamellia). They flower in mid-summer, not a big display but there are usually flowers on it for about a month. They have bright red-purple leaves in fall too.

I was fascinated by that shiny snake-like bark. Very beautiful tree. Never saw it here.

I have two young ones (my dog accidentally killed one this winter though, broke it off about 3-4" off the ground!). I'll re-post a pic of the fall color and also a close-up pic of a blossom.

This si some ground covering plant, Skwright? Anyway, those beautiful decorative barks of the trees (are they Acer species?) suit perfectly with them.
