I do not ingnore fungi on my trees, Fran. Some of them makes perfect soup. This one I do not know, looks little bit like what Chinese call "Judas´ear" (hmmm, perfect in soups).

I will have to remember my book of Fungi next time I go out but I am almost sure it is Auricularia auricula-judae or Jew's ear, but it doesn't look jelly enough. got a pic of a fungi that looks like a Peony or Rose...Will post it later....!
