I'm with Plantaholic I'm afraid - it looks like Agave, although I know not enough to say A.americana or not.
If you look at the ends of the leaves Katarina they have what almost looks like a talon/sharp fingernail.

Hi, also Katrina if you look closely at the back of the leaf you can see the imprint of the preivious leaf, on your other pic you can just see the the top if this on the back of a leaf, not something you get on Aloe. Hope this helps. :)

...I read now that insects often drink its nectar, known as "honey with water" and this liquid is very good for burns and obstipation, as it is in aloe vera. So at least something in common :)
