We keep bees and the hives looked pretty in the winter snows. I prefer them in the summer sunshine myself!

I wonder if the freezing conditions affect the honey?

My husband is the bee-keeper! He tells me that there is no honey in the hive over winter only winter stores for the bees - a form of sugar syrup. The bees go into a 'semi-comatose' condition in very cold weather. But on sunny days they will leave the hive and fly, collecting pollen and water.
