I'm as proud as punch. Another class was for Cress grown in an unusual container. She stuffed newspaper in to a big washing powder box, put in a couple of sheets of kitchen paper and a recycled plastic tray with cress growing in it. She got a third for that. The cress had not grown as well as it should have because she could not make up her mind which container to use so it had only been growing for one week. She also did a collage using twigs and seeds which earned her a highly commended so she too was very proud. She loves to grow things. It was her idea to have the bunches. She wanted my daughter to buy primulas to use them but mum said it was supposed to be what you had on hand and they took a look round the garden to see if there was anything suitable. She spotted the yucca and thought that would do. Fortunately their yukka has lots of babies so they just dug up two of them and replanted them with ribbons to show they were supposed to be hair bunches. Her grin is every bit as wide as the flower pot girl.

Little girl it is Mel. Hence the bunches. My daughter was itching to make improvements but reckoned she had already had enough imput in showing Eva how to put it together and it was supposed to be the childs own work. Whitehall Garden Centre near them on the outskirts of Whitchurch just south of Bristol have projects that the children can do. This was one of them. Unfortunately they saw the advert too late to go and do it but went along and inspected some of the ones that had been made. They used clay pots but the plastic ones seemed a better bet for a wee one to handle and they were free, being redundant after the plants bought in them went in to the garden.

I realised it was a little girl, Scotsgran! I just got caught up in the alliteration! She really is appealing!

Thanks Mel. The ribbons on the yukkas were removed so as not to impede the growth of the yucca babies and they were still growing although a bit battered looking when we visited recently. She hangs outside the front door having replaced a hanging basket.

It's always lovely to have something unique. Full marks to your daughter for resisting the temptation to tweak!
