Yes, you're correct. Does well out under the patio outside. Think it may be time to repot soon. My friend's mom has a huge specimen...it's gorgeous!

Yes, it needs semi-shade or they'll burn. It does like to be quite root-bound, though.

It looks like the common Dendrobium kingianum (Rock Orchid). I know they do well outside up in Central California, also.
